ProHousing Missoula and Front Step Community Land Trust are proud to partner with AARP to host an architectural design competition this fall. This contest will highlight the opportunities posed by Missoula’s new municipal zoning code to create attractive, enjoyable homes that meet people’s needs at all stages of life.
We invite architectural designers to submit creative, clever ideas for ways to adapt a real, existing vacant property in Missoula’s midtown neighborhood into dense, “missing middle” in-fill housing. Structure options include fourplexes, rowhomes, cottage clusters, and more, and should consider all ages and abilities.
This competition is open to designers of any experience.

Contest entry is free until Sept. 18, after which we will request a $50 entry fee.
Submissions will be accepted now through Oct. 5.

People’s Choice Award
Contest entrants can choose to design for a single plot (50×127 feet) or a combined plot (100×127 feet). Learn more by reading the contest rules before applying.
Top entries and winners will be displayed at a public event in downtown Missoula slated for early November.
